Built before the demand existed
When Axius SDC, Inc. was incorporated in October 2025, it was not a standing start.
It brought twenty-six years of engineering to a market that had finally caught up to the problem: the moment machines became the primary consumers and producers of structured data, human-maintained governance would collapse.
This is how that foresight went from healthcare research to a deterministic data substrate that autonomous systems need. We did not predict LLMs or agent frameworks. We predicted the activity they revealed.
The journey
2000–2009 · FreePM and TORCH
Open-source healthcare applications for practice management and electronic health records. SourceForge projects, the LinuxMedNews community, and the first foundations of semantic modeling.
2009–2017 · MLHIM research
The Multi-Level Health Information Model, proving that semantic data modeling works in healthcare. Multiple open specification repositories, more than twenty peer-reviewed publications in AMIA, JCI, JAMA and IEEE/ACM venues, and international collaboration established across Brazil, Canada and the United States.
2012–2025 · S3Model
Generalizing the healthcare concepts to any domain: finance, government, research, commerce. Domain-agnostic validation completed and the architecture refined for production.
2025–present · SDC and Axius SDC, Inc.
The transition from research to commercial. Sixteen licensed open-source repositories across two GitHub organizations, sdcvalidator and sdcgovernance shipping on
PyPI, and an international team across the US, Canada and Brazil.

Not serial rebranding
MLHIM to S3Model to SDC is intentional evolution: healthcare, then domain-agnostic, then commercial. Each phase has working code, specifications and publications, with continuous development since 2000 and no gaps.
Real collaboration
The founding team has between seventeen and twenty-six years of partnership, documented in co-authored publications and joint projects, and disclosed on ICMJE forms. Those are verified independently by the journals, which is what makes them worth citing here.
Academic validation
More than 160 citations and over twenty peer-reviewed publications in AMIA, JCI, JAMA and IEEE/ACM venues. The concepts were tested in the literature before they were sold.
